About the Director, Jessica
Stensrud Since moving to
Boston (and then to Pawtucket, Rhode Island) from New York City,
where she first had intensive studies in violin performance with
Itzhak Perlman and then had an active performance career for 15
years, Jessica Stensrud is continuing to make a place for herself
in the northeast's musical scene. She has worked with such groups
as the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, the Boston Ballet (where,
in 1991 she was concertmaster/soloist for the 3-week production of
Romeo & Juliet), Pro Arte, and Emmanuel Music. She has many areas of musical ability, having taken part for many
years in Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, New York, and the
Boston Lyric Opera. Additionally, she is an active period
instrument performer, currently working with the Handel & Haydn
Society and having performed with period groups while living in New
York City. Having been taught
and coached by such musicians as Australian violinist Charmian Gadd
and viola soloist Kim Kashkashian, she has always pursued
opportunities to give solo and chamber music performances. Being of
Norwegian descent, Ms. Stensrud formed the Eventyr Ensemble in
1998, which promotes the performance of Scandinavian music. |
